Viewing Our Community Differently Through the Eyes of Seniors explores social isolation and loneliness among senior residents in Richmond County. Successful ways of addressing social isolation are rare. We believe that using a fresh lens to explore and document perspectives about the issue will lead to increased dialogue and creative solutions. Proven arts-based methods (Photovoice, Digital Storytelling, zine and theatre) have inspired social participation and community involvement by many of our Richmond County seniors. The first three workshops occurred in 2017-2018. These poignant and revealing arts-based storytelling methods have laid the foundation for future workshops.
